Biography:
Seoul born and bred, Kim Yongsun grew up in a simple yet happy home, raised by practical parents with a great sense of humor. They instilled in their daughter a strong sense of self but taught her not to take herself too seriously. Music was also a huge part of her home life, as she often woke up to Queen or Boohwal, early mornings filled with air guitar and lipsyncing to the radio. This was her favorite way to start the day.
She'd been an okay student: decent grades, decent deportment. She never quite stood out when it came to academics, but music was her favorite and best class. Like most kids, she did things because they were fun, and singing and dancing for a grade counted as fun. In middle school, she decided she wanted to be a flight attendant, imagining herself jet-setting in style in pretty uniforms, helping passengers enjoy their flights. She was pretty much set on that course, but life had other plans.
In the summer of her high school freshman year, she was at Hongdae with her friends when they came across a promo: sing and get a free gift! After a bit of teasing and cajoling, Yongsun stepped onto the makeshift stage and picked a song from the machine. She got restaurant and music store vouchers afterward, as well as an invitation to apply at a music academy. A couple of staff members from the academy had heard Yongsun sing, and they thought she had potential. Two years of training and performing, and Yongsun knew that she couldn't see herself doing anything else. It was Performing Arts or bust. And she seems to have made the right choice. This was where she blossomed in full, where she found her true passion.
